I Spent Over 500K to Learn This Lesson

by | Oct 18, 2023

I’ve invested over 500k to come to this one realization:

We don’t have a weight loss problem…

We have a weight loss maintenance problem.

Think about it…There are a lot of ways to lose weight, but most of those ways are notoriously unsustainable.

Keto, intermittent fasting, Weight Watchers, Whole30, HCG, medical weight loss drugs, excessive exercise, carb cycling, OMAD, Atkins, plant-based, etc.

They all “work”…until they don’t.

And I wish I could say that I didn’t need two master’s degrees and an additional 20 years of continuing education + 500k in bills to tell me that, except that I did.

I needed every class, every seminar, and every late night and early morning, all the research papers, meal plans, body fat measurements, exercise programs, podcast interviews, and every single dollar of investment into people and programs that helped me shorten the learning curve around such a seemingly simple, but profoundly challenging understanding of what weight loss really entails.

The Real Problem

You know what I discovered?

It’s not about the weight.

I mean, the weight is important, but focusing on the weight actually keep us stuck.

Instead, there are 3 pivotal discoveries that I’ve made, after having coached thousands of individuals and investing hundreds of thousands of dollars into my education, that are responsible for long-term success.

#1 – You don’t actually believe you will be successful.

Our client’s biggest realization is that the weight loss mindset is a losing battle. The behaviors required to lose weight are different than what’s required to keep it off, and you’ll always struggle until you imprint those new behaviors into your identity.

Humans crave certainty. For many, the most challenging thing about long-term change is adopting the daily behaviors around nutrition and exercise without knowing, with certainty, that they’ll actually “work.” Instead, for many, the certainty of knowing the outcome, even if it’s gaining the weight back, is more comfortable than the fear of not knowing…

And that’s a hard pill to swallow.

#2 – Getting lean has nothing to do with “burning more calories.”

“Eat less and exercise more” is the most contextually insignificant, inappropriate, and ineffective guidance that there is in the dieting space. It lacks nuance, individualization, and specificity, to the degree that it can really mean anything to anyone.

Yes, we eat too much, and yes, we don’t move enough, and sure, for many, simply moving a little more and eating a little less would create remarkable change…but to what end?

Dieting culture is based on eating less and exercising more, and 96% of those dieters will tell you it didn’t work out as well as they hoped…and for many, completely backfired.

Want to know why?

Because it says nothing about what to eat, when to eat, how to eat, or what, when, and how to exercise. Believe it or not, those factors matter most.

#3 – The all-or-nothing mindset is keeping you stuck

It’s what we call “dichotomous thinking”.

Black or white, good or bad, clean or dirty, healthy vs cheat, etc.…

Your type A personality and perfectionist ideals are keeping you handcuffed to the yo-yo dieting rollercoaster, reinforcing the same cycle on repeat, for years on end.

You can’t white-knuckle your way out of a lifetime of poor eating and exercise behaviors.

The Solution

There are 3 steps we take in our coaching program to overcome these little-known roadblocks through our Pure Science Fat Loss Process™…

#1 – Supercharge the Metabolism & Mindset

It’s about working smarter, not harder. We leverage real-world data around your existing behaviors to understand and optimize your nutrition and exercise roadmap. This breeds confidence, clarity, and certainty that you have the tools and the support to succeed, so you don’t have to “trust the process”, you just need to show up and do the work.

#2 – Fat Loss Acceleration

Once you’ve earned the right to diet, we can switch things into high gear to drive effective and sustainable fat loss without restrictive meal plans, starvation diets or overly aggressive exercise routines. Flexibility and freedom is the name of the game, and you’ll have ownership and autonomy around every decision you make.

#3 – Lifestyle Integration

Confidence, competence, clarity, and conviction. The building blocks for any successful endeavor…and what we help you infuse into your daily behaviors.

Cumulatively, we leverage the science of data collection, the psychology of behavior change, and the art of coaching to help you change the belief system around what it means to be healthy…

So you can stop worrying about the weight and start working towards who you need to become through this process.

The first step in changing your beliefs is to acknowledge that it’s not about HOW…

You’ve wasted enough time gathering more information…you already “know what to do,” yet you’re not doing it.

It’s about WHO.

WHO can help me get there.

WHO has the knowledge, tools, experience, and expertise to acknowledge and empathize where I’ve been before and help me forge a new path.

WHO has climbed the mountain before me and can help me save the time, money, energy, pain, and frustration that’s been constant in the journey thus far.

We’ve done all the heavy lifting…

We’ve spent hundreds of thousands of dollars and hours on learning the skills and tools required to make real change.

Now, you just need to accept that you’re actually ready for change and commit.
